Symbols of Sacrifice - 1

Symbols of Sacrifice - 1
(Eid-ul-Azha, 2017, 2nd Sep, 2017)

Since childhood I remain awestruck
By the Symbols of Sacrifice of the Child Ismail...
And the Great Ibrahim - the Prophet, forlorn and thrown into fire
By his own Peoples' desire, for whom he dedicated his life...!
So God had to save him from that fire, from that ungrateful People...
Who never knew the gem, the jewel they had within them...!

Still Ibrahim was never content, wanted to serve the Humanity
If not in his own lifetime, then he wanted to do it through his Posterity...
So the baby Ismail was born to the young Hazera and the old Ibrahim of 86...!
The world of joy and all the heavens of love descended to the Father...!
The Happiest Man was our Great Great Grandfather Ibrahim ...!
Ismail - the Symbol of Life, Happiness and Fulfillment to Ibrahim...!!!

But the dear God had other plans to Test His dear Prophets...
Why this Act of Sacrifice - that we must do ...?
Does it Symbolize the constant metamorphosis
To which we must submit ourselves...
So to gain Self-Improvement, Self-Instruction, and Self-Evolution...?
Do these Acts of spiritual and mental Sacrifice continually...
Elevate us to the higher and higher planes of Truth, Knowledge, and Wisdom ...?
And lead us to the Enlightenment and Spiritual Perfection...???

Then how much did we progress during the last Four Thousand and More years ...?
How will our Ibrahim now dream these days ...?
He couldn't possibly sleep (let alone dreaming) ...
With the stink we produce since the days of our animals buying ...
And competing with each other with the sheer sizes of our cows...
And the hatred we produce among us through constant jealousy...
And with the cow-dung and all the putrefied blood and garbage...!
Will that 13-year-old teenager Ismail having the same smile
Recognize our sacrifices - that he symbolized by offering
His dearest own life...??

Where do we stand now with the true spirit and symbols of Sacrifice
That started Four Thousand and More Years Ago with our Forefathers...???
